The artist created to order a “baker” in oil on wood, which she named Guiomar for personal reasons. Curiously, at Rua do Castanheiro No. 20 lived Dona Guiomar Madalena de Sá e Vilhena (1705-1789), heiress of the family business that she managed and grew since 1766. Known as “Ilustríssima Senhora” (Her Excellency), this noblewoman exported more than 50% of all the wine produced in Madeira, mainly to the Orient. Guiomar later moved to the Quinta das Angústias, which later became known as Quinta Vigia, and is currently the headquarters of the Presidency and the official residence of the President of the Regional Government of Madeira.
